reflection
What immediately draws me to Anna Park’s work is its scale and emotional intensity. Her charcoal drawings feel overwhelming in a powerful way—the figures are often distorted, layered, or partially abstracted, which creates a sense of movement and chaos. The contrast between the values adds drama and depth, making the scenes feel heavy, crowded, and emotionally charged. One aspect of her process that stands out to me is how physical her work feels. The charcoal marks are bold, aggressive, and raw, which makes the emotions in her compositions feel honest and unfiltered. The feeling she creates in her pieces relate to the emotions I want to capture in my piece, but what is really interesting is how she uses the abstract marks to create this, instead of going completely realistic like my style. I think this could be really effective way to create emotion in my future works.
