process: project #4

The sketching phase of this project took longer than expected due to the challenging angle and the distortion created by the squishing of the face. However, once I began building up the values, the portrait gradually became more realistic I think the reference photo I chose was strong for executing this project, especially in capturing depth and structure. Although I struggled with time management and wasn’t able to fully finish the piece, the process was still valuable. I especially enjoyed experimenting with the pop of color created by the glitter, which added a good contrast to the black and white portrait. The color feels slightly unbalanced within the composition right now, but this has encouraged me to think more critically about placement and harmony.
