Lunchtime Lecture by Oura Sananikone 2/4/25

I thought Mr. San's diverse background as an artist working with a wide range of mediums—comics, painting, and even sculpting toys — was both humbling and motivating. I learned that he started with simple sketches, which eventually turned into a broader body of work including paintings, comics, and toys. His art is deeply personal, blending sci-fi elements with emotional depth. I loved how he mixed different styles, from abstract expressionism to pop culture, to create something unique. Something that I found really relatable with Mr. San was struggling with consistency, especially when he talked about his Patreon. This taught me that art takes discipline and commitment, even when life gets in the way. After the lecture, I’ve learned how important it is to take risks, push boundaries, and connect with others in the creative community.
